Where is the hemp sourced from?
Hemp grown in China is often contaminated with pesticides and heavy metals found in soil, including arsenic, cadmium, nickel, etc. Some of this Chinese hemp is exported to Europe for processing, so there is a chance that hemp products “from Europe” are actually grown in China, not Europe. To be safe, and to be able to consume a non-toxic product it’s recommended to buy products with organically grown hemp from the United States of America, grown in US soil.
Does the hemp oil get tested for heavy metals and bio-contaminants? If so, is the product third-party lab tested? Independently tested?
There are no regulations yet in place to require hemp manufacturers to test their products for heavy metals, fungus, pesticides, and bio-contaminants. Manufacturers that really care about quality do test their own products through independent third-party labs. Though it is more expensive, third-party lab testing is considered best practice in the industry to ensure transparency and safety.
Does the hemp product contain a CBD isolate or full-spectrum hemp oil?
There is a difference between CBD in a full-spectrum hemp oil and in isolate form. As an isolate, the CBD is not supported by other naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, so a therapeutic response can only be achieved at a certain concentration. This does not work for everybody as some people would need to consume large concentrations of a pure CBD isolate to have the desired effect. In comparison, studies have shown that CBD in a full-spectrum hemp extract is more potent and more efficacious than a pure CBD isolate due to the presence of other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant compounds.
